Anti-War Demonstration, Hollywood, CA - March 19th, 2011
Every year around this time anti-war protesters, Leftists, Israel-haters and conspiracy theorists gather on Hollywood Blvd. ostensibly to march in opposition to the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. During the Presidency of George W. Bush these demonstrations could be quite large, with many thousands of angry protesters filling the streets demanding an end to "U.S. imperialism" and "endless wars for oil". Then, in 2008 Presidential candidate Barack Obama captured the imagination of the anti-war movement.
To many it seemed as if their prayers had been answered. Obama was "against the war from the beginning"! He promised to close Guantanamo Bay. He promised to bring the troops home. He promised healthcare for all. He was an activist. He was one of them. He seemed like a dream candidate. He was Dennis Kucinich, but better looking, more articulate, and as charismatic as R.F.K… And he was black! What more could a good left-winger ask from a candidate? And then, HE WON THE ELECTION and Bush was gone! The Democrats controlled both Houses of Congress, and the Presidency.
For the next two years the anti-war movement dwindled. Attendance at demonstrations shrunk to a fraction of what it had been.
But President Obama didn’t bring the troops home from Iraq. He followed Bush’s plan instead. And then he escalated the war in Afghanistan. He spent all of his effort during his first year passing his healthcare legislation, which, by the time it finally passed, was not the "single payer" plan that liberals had wanted. And to make things worse, a majority of Americans were clearly against it.
And even more distressing to your average, Bush-hating, "No Blood For Oil" Leftist - Guantanamo Bay was still open for business.
The dream of "hope and change" that Barack Obama had promised was not happening. And in the meantime conservatives had begun to beat the Left at their own game, holding mass demonstrations and filling up townhall meetings with passionate, conservative agitators. The Left was exhausted and in despair. In two short years they had gone from euphoria, to confusion and gloom. And to top it all off, in November the Republicans won back control of the House of Representatives.
Leftists live for change, and by the time 2011 rolled around it looked as if everything was the same as before, or worse. Then, in Tunisia, protesters took to the streets and drove a long time Arab dictator into exile. A month later tens of thousands of demonstrators filled the streets of Cairo, eventually driving the "American puppet", Hosni Mubarak from power! Revolution was in the air! In Wisconsin thousands of Union supporters had spent weeks protesting against Union busting Republicans. And adding to the excitement, the Earth was shaking in Japan causing apocalyptic tsunamis and nuclear meltdowns.
And to top it all off; Barack Obama, without the approval of Congress, had just ordered the U.S. military to attack yet another Arab country - Libya - with the first strikes occurring just as Saturday’s march was beginning . The timing was almost cosmic. And although the number of protesters was not nearly as large as during the heyday of the Bush era, the old fist-waving rage was definitely back. The demonstrators were restless and the air was filled with that unmistakable manic moonbat energy.
All of the following photographs and videos were taken by me, in Hollywood, Ca, during the afternoon of March 19th, 2011.
The demonstration opened with a prayer. The prayer was offered by a group of very angry American Indians holding pictures of Muammur Gaddafi.
When the woman in the following video took the microphone she began chanting, "Down with USA! Down with USA!", as the crowd cheered. Unfortunately I was unable to film these first moments. My video picks up about 10 seconds into her short "pissed off" speech, before she turns the microphone over to a Native American man who refers to English as the "enemy’s language, before going on to call the audience "the true illegal aliens and wetbacks".
And here’s the prayer, or at least part of it…She made the same offering to the East, then to the West, then the South and finally to the North.
Interestingly, her drum featured an anti-solar energy message.
Apparently many of the demonstrators found no contradiction in praising the anti-Mubarak protesters in Egypt, while at the same time opposing any US protection of the anti-Gaddafi protesters in Libya.
As usual, there were plenty of Israel-haters on hand.
Bradley Manning, the US Army soldier accused of passing classified information to the Wikileaks website, has become the Left’s latest hero and poster boy.
And of course the now ubiquitous "9/11 truthers" were everywhere one looked.
Every year there are more and more "chemtrail"; conspiracists, many wearing particle masks.

Perhaps all the earthquakes and tsunamis over the past few months (and years), not to mention the spreading chaos in the Middle East , explains why there were so many more Evangelical Christians out trying to save the souls of Godless Communists and neo-pagan hippies than I’ve seen at past demonstrations.
But Christians were not the only preachers on the street that day. On the south side of Hollywood Blvd, a block before the end of the march, was a group of about thirteen "Black Hebrew Israelites".
For those who don’t know, the so-called "Black Hebrew Israelites’ are an anti-white, anti-Semitic cult that likes to dress up in homemade costumes and gather on city streets, usually in tourists areas, and yell at white people calling them "devils", and calling for the destruction of America.
The anti-war protesters saw them and assumed, because of their crazy robes and placards mocking President Obama and Jesus, that they too were anti-war. Wrong!..When the moonbats passed by, the Black Hebrew Israelites called them "devils" and cursed them. When a few hippy-type anti-war protesters approached them to ask, "Are you against the war?", their answer was, "No! God is a man of war!..We support these wars, and all wars, because they are Gods wars which will wipe you white devils off the face of the Earth!".

A moment later another white anti-war protester tells the Black Hebrew Israelites that he too is a Jew. They call him the biggest devil on the planet…
Sorry for all the videos, but these nutters put on a great show…Here he explains that white Jews are the "Synagogue of Satan", that God will destroy America, and that "white men" are the devils. They even mention "chemtrails"…
Eventually an Evangelical Christian steps forward and asks a few questions…
After a few moments the leader of the Black Hebrew Israelites has had enough of this white Christian devil and is reduced to repeating, "You are a devil! You are a devil!"..You can even hear a moonbat chiming in, "But nobody should judge, man".
After witnessing this, I’m starting to believe that these may actually be the End Times. It sure felt like it while I was surrounded by all that craziness on Hollywood Blvd.

The only two demonstrators I saw who didn’t seem to be completely off their rockers were these two young guys who appeared to have quickly printed their signs off their computer and run out onto the sidewalk to hold up their messages to the passing parade of Leftists.
It goes without saying that there was a drum circle.
Everyone gathered at the end of the march to listen to inspiring radicals scream speeches and lead ‘the people’ in the chanting of slogans.
Former IVAW member and founder of March Forward, Mike Prysner gave one of his trademark, anti-American speeches.
After the speeches about 20 people performed an "act of civil disobedience" by sitting down in front of the famous Chinese Theater. They were promptly escorted away by the police.
After that, everybody went shopping for anti-Capitalist T-shirts and souvenirs.
As I was leaving I realized that I had not seen one placard or banner employing swastikas or comparing Republicans to Nazis. This was the first time I had attended an anti-war demonstration and left without a photograph of a Republican slandered with a swastika or a Hitler moustache. I had thought for sure I’d see at least one image of Wisconsin’s Republican Governor, Scott Walker, with a Hitler moustache scribbled under his nose…But I didn’t even see his image at all. I admit I was surprised.
Then, as I was walking back to my car, I noticed something in the middle of the road. Ah yes, there was Scott Walker. His face on four little flags attached to toothpicks with the caption, "Koch Sucker, Scott Walker" had been carefully stuck into pieces of shit left by the police horses in the middle of Hollywood Blvd.
